CCC had problems for a bit back when Leopard was released and Chronosync has problems in my experience with a client who bought it, especially with Entourage data files. There's NOTHING comparable to a bootable, cloned backup when one is experiencing "a moment of extreme need", such as an "I can't boot!" experience. I use and recommend SuperDuper due to my success with it over the past several years.
I consider either CCC or SD to be a SUPERIOR choice to Time Machine for backing up. If (during a backup) it encounters a corrupted file or files, CCC will "keep on going", trying to clone all the -good- files, then give you a report when its finished.

It makes testing new point releases of OS X much easier, in essence it separates user files from OS X installation to separate volume. CCC has "the edge" these days, because it can clone over the recovery partition as well.ĬCC has one other advantage in its favor: It seems no one has mentioned one feature that SuperDuper has over Carbon Copy cloner: Sandbox.
